hey hey hey family!!!
So i don’t have a lot of time, ivé been
reading all the emails you guys sent me! Thanks so much they mean a lot! Thank
you all for the great advise, and prayers you´ve sent my way! i hope i didn´t
sound like i was complaining to much last week, but in all honestly i was in
complete shock! im starting to get a little more use to this crazy place!!
This week was pretty good! i don’t know where
to even start....how about with the cold pench (apartment) we don’t have any
heat or warm water, we use to have a heater that plugged into the wall but we
gave it away to a dad that lived in a shack and had to little boys that had no
blankets or any way to stay warm in the night, id rather them have it them me
anyway cuz i have two coats that i can bundle up in. haha but the worst part in
the cold mornings is hopping in the freeeeeezing shower. I shake like a baby
when I’m in there I’m so cold, haha i can totally see my breath, and then when
i dry myself off i hop in a nice cold wet towel, hahaha cuz nothing ever dries
in this place. I did laundry last week (in a sink) and my clothes are just
getting dry today! haha So me and my comp have turn on the stove to warm up the
house and turn on our oven made out of cardboard....you think I’m joking but I’m
for rizzel! haha its not all bad, once i get all dried off I’m fine! haha then
after we shower, i hop on my sleeping bag, that’s on a dirt floor and i start
studies for the day! My comp is super funny, keeps me smiling in this place! His
name is elder H, he’s 25, speaks English is from the estados unidos (you cant
say he’s from America here cuz apparently everyone’s from America here, go
figure, South America). haha After studies we go hit good old poop smelling Argentina!
I was totally expecting all the people to be so open to the church here cuz you
here all the South American stories about the church, but people are actually pretty
stingy here, especially in our area. So not everyone loves to talk to us, but
there are still lots of nice people. hahah Everyone stares at us as we walk by,
i told my comp it definitely has to be him since he is tan has dark hair and
looks like everyone else here...its definitely not the white pasty red head
walking around ¨) that was me trying to make a smiley face but the keyboard is
way different down here! After talking to some peeps in the day we usually go
to almeurzo or lunch with members, and it always lasts like 3 hours down here,
i hate it cuz its such a waste of time, but its the culture down here, oh and
they don’t eat dinner hear, so i have to eat myself silly down
here...especially cuz no matter what i get served 3 plates of food even when i
tell them I’m satesfecho! haha they just always laugh and give me more
food....and half the time I’m gaging the food down anyway...so its kinda hard sometimes.
Yesterday i picked a live cockroach out of my onion salad....i would kill for
moms onion meals right now. haha the onions down here are like 50 times
stronger then the ones back home, and everyone likes them raw...oh and nobody
ever washes there dishes down here, so I’m eating over food from last week... i
have to say lots of prayers to get three plates of those meals down...anyways i
digress.... after lunch its work for the rest of the day! There’s tons of
dogs everywhere, and there’s also tons of dead dogs rotting everywhere too, i
really have to watch my step. i also saw a rat the size of my face, a guy
get hit by a car and die right in front of me... almost got robbed
twice...but we ran for our lives, and lots of other things, but i still have a
smile on my face cuz I’m a missionary, i have a message that changes
lives, and plus everyone needs to see a good smile in this dump haha! So
something spiritual, we found this lady named N, she was super sick and we
blessed her, i think i told you about that last week, but we agave her a
blessing...she was super sick and by the next day she was better, she realized
that we are messengers form god after that experience and has been taking the
lessons, two days ago she committed to baptism to whoopy! Also we are teaching
this family named the C’s are super awesome, but there house is a dump! I kid
you not! I have to breathe through my mouth when i go in there the smell
is so bad! There is trash up to me knees in there, and there are the two cutes
little girls that live in there one of them is going to be baptized
in a couple of weeks! Also they have 1000´s of cockroaches literally thousands!
They’re all over the walls on the ground, they have like nests and i was
flicking them off me!
So yeah, thats kinda been my week there’’s
lots more thats happened but i dont have time to write it all! But i love you
all so much! I realize over and over how stinkin blessed we are as a family to
live where we live to live in the united states, to have god in our lives and
the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in out lives. This message changes people,
more then words can explain, if i didn´t have this knowledge i wouldn´t of
lasted a day in this place...no not one. The stings that life gives us can all
be healed through the message of Jesus Christ, and that he lives. No
matter what you’re going through, no matter if you live in a shack, you just
got robbed, or stabbed, or have no heat, or no matter what the situation is,
the message that Christ lives, and that he died for you and me makes all the
unfair things in life fair. it makes are troubles go away or to be bearable!
k i gots to run, love you all, write my mission
home, or feel free to send me emails, id prefer a letter cuz I’m being charged
by the minute here! But you can also email me too! I love to hear from you!
love you all!!!
Elder holman! whoot whoo!
