Hey hey hey!!!
Whats up HOLMANS!!!!
I’m glad to hear that your all alive and well!!! Sounds like things are pretty crazy right now preparing for the wedding! And its crazy that you have snow right now...i don’t think I’ve ever been hotter in my entire life this week...i think i lost 5 pounds just from sweating!! awh it was awful!!! The low this week was 96 degrees and that was at three in the morning! Each day i would wake up...actually more like get up because i couldn´t sleep cuz of the heat...and get off my bed and there was a big pile of sweat!!! whooo and the bugs are bigger and faster then ever...and there everywhere! i keep my lighter spray close by so i can burn all the spiders and cockroaches in our pench!!...and yes mom im drinking lots of water because of the heat. i think my body just needs to get use to it...i got a pretty bad heat rash on my legs from the heat...at first i thought they were bug bites on my leg, cuz id wake up with a bunch of red marks on my leg...i was worried i had bed bugs or worse the dreaded flees... but all the Latin moms told me its just heat rash...but who knows, they also tell me that spiders plant eggs in my face at night too...which is kinda hard for me to believe.
Well as for the week, i had a pretty good week. Also really long. Lots of walking in the heat. Lots of doors slammed in my face, but i had some good moments. We had a good lesson with some investigators named justo y liz. They have been investigators for a long time. They know the book of Mormon is true, that the church is true and they are teaching their kids from the book of Mormon. The only problem is they aren´t married. They’re supper good people, but cant get baptized until there married. So this week we had been walking around for a while, and i remember saying a prayer that someone would let us in their house, when i finished the prayer the very first names that popped into my head were justo and liz! So we headed over to their place usually yhey’re not home at the time we passed by, but it just so happened that god knew they were home. They invited us in, we sat down and talked about baptism, and how they know that this is the true church, and so they need to get married! We set a goal for them to get married on 23rd of December baptized on the 24th and then we have Christmas on the 25!!! We told them that we would help them plan the wedding that we could involve the whole entire ward, we told them that they can have there reception and the reunion in the church. They were super pumped about it, and said that they would totally do it...so, looks like I’m gonna have a December wedding too, whoot whoo!!! i was feeling a little bit left out that you all get to plan a wedding, so just to stick it to ya, we’re gonna have one in Argentina, and then baptize them after!!! haha we have already started working with the relief society president, and we got plans in the making!!! whoot whoo!
In other creepy news! On Thursday we were walking in the street, our appointment had just fallen through and this witch looking women screamed you two come here!!! As we were walking over to her, some girl ran up to me, and told me to be careful that the lady was crazy, i just kinda laughed and thanked her...haha i should of listened to her...anyways we walked up to the lady and she said, i want to here your message, come in my house and teach me...haha me and my comp were like, score! We’ll teach ya! haha it was super dark outside and we were pretty much in the extreme ghetto, but we walked to her house with her, and when she opened the door everything was dark in her house and she told us to come in, everything inside of me was screaming don’t go in the house, but i didn´t listen to it and walked in. As we walked in everything was pitch black and all the windows were shut. She slammed the door behind us and i asked her if we could turn on some lights. She literally started laughing like a witch and said, i don’t have any lights! my eyes started to adjust and there was just crap everywhere. There was broken glass on the floor, some liquid that im pretty sure was blood, and like cardboard everywhere. Everything inside of me was just screaming GET OUT NOW!! haha i turned to my comp and said we’ve got to go now, i walked over to the door and tried to open it but she locked us in. awhh it was freaky! my comp said something to her in spanish that i didn’t understand and she finally let us out of the house. She begged for some money from us as we were leaving, my comp hucked like 10 pesos at her as we started to run off!! haha it was so horrifying. haha i don’t know why I’m telling you guys this!
IN other news...we have something called the 15 familias in our ward. You guys might now about it. Pretty much the profit asked that each ward chooses 15 less active families that we can focus on and help them return to the church. This last week, me my comp the bishop and his counselors prayed in a meeting for who we should focus our efforts on and what 15 families we should choose, so we can help them come back to the church. I visited a ton of the families this week and had some really cool experiences, i dont have a whole lot of time, but ill tell you my experience with one family. The family is la mailia mielgo. They were married in the temple, devote members of the church for over 15 years, and then one day just stopped going. As i visited the family i asked them if they thought the church was true, they said they new it was true, i asked them if they had a testimony of Christ, his teachings and life. They said that they did. They believe in the church and its teachings, they had just lost their desire or will to live the teachings. i asked them if they had scripture study or said prayers, they said no. After putting together the puzzle pieces i put together that the thing they really lacked was faith. Faith is the motivating factor that gets us to church each week, that makes us have a desire to read and to pray. I talked about how they can have more faith in their life, and it all starts by the simple things like praying, and reading. They promised me then and there that they would start to read, and pray. When we came back to visit them again in the week i could see that there was something different in them, they seemed happier, and more eager to learn from us. Well, long story short, after praying and reading there faith started to build, they started to feel gods spirit in them, and well after 5 years of not stepping into a church they finally took a leap of faith in there lives, and came to church yesterday! i was supper happy for them, its so cool to watch as Christ changes lives through the small and simple things....oh and they have a daughter that has 17 years thats not baptized as well, so we started teaching her, and she has committed to be baptized on December 8th!!! pretty good stuff!
haha k well i got to go! sorry this letter is extremely weird...i cant speak or write in English, its hard for me cuz im talking in spanish all week long!!! haha that was literally a struggle to pound out that letter! So ill make it easier on myself and harder on you and bare you my testimony in Spanish:
yo se que este iglesia es la verdadera iglesia en el mundo hoy. Eso es la iglesia de jesucristo, y sí vivimos nuestra vidas como Él, aplicando los principios y enseñanzas de jesucristo en nuestro vidas, vamos a tener facilidad, y un vida mejor. yo sé que como podemos fortalecer nuestra fe es por medio de leyendo los escritores, orando, y asistiendo la capilla cada domingo! estoy muy agredcido por mi testimonio en mí vida, por este oportunidad que yo tengo para compartir el evangelio con argentina!
