Hey all!
How’s my favorite family doing!! It sounds like all of you are doing really well! Thank you all for the birthday emails, they mean so much to me! I was really shocked to open up my email and see that so many of you emailed me! Pretty much I got the best fam in the world!!
So first off! How was your birthday Brock!? Don’t be afraid to write/email me and let me know how it went ;) i wrote you a letter that ill try and get sent out today!
So this week was...well a fun one...lets just say that i got lots of ‘hot wife points’ walking around in more rain then i think i have ever witnessed in my whole life :)
So Monday and Tuesday, it really just rained on us, it wasn´t to the point where i couldn´t handle it, but we just did a lot of walking, and not so much of teaching. But i survived :) Wednesday, my birthday, was actually a really good day! i woke up, and my comp sang me happy birthday in spanish at 6:30 in the morning, i walked over to our main room and looked out the window with a big glass hole in it, and just stared as the rain was pouring! i thought to myself ,this is gonna be a good day. ;) By the time me and my comp had finished up our studies and walked outside the rain had started to die down! We walked to one of our investigators the familia de Yessica where we had our first cita (appointment) with, and the very first thing my comp did was tell her it was my birthday. When she found that out she told us that right now wasn´t a good time, for us to come over later that night. I then went to lunch with a member, and she cooked us some nice birthday cow liver....and she turned on the Simpsons in spanish in the room that we were eating, so I was super pumped cuz i got to watch a little bit of the simpsons!!!! Well pretty much it was like any other day, walking around talking to people...until we went back to Yessica´s house. As we walked in, she told me to sit down, and all of her kids came running out singing happy birthday to me!!! She then pulled a cake out, and told me she didn´t have any milk eggs or sugar, and so she told me to say i like the cake even if i don’t!! hahha I blew out the candles, and ate about half of my piece of cake...it was really good... except earlier that week she had told us that her and her kids hadn´t eaten in two days cuz they don’t have any money...and i cant stand watching kids go hungry out here, so i gave all of my cake to there little 3 year old who scarfed it down...i don’t know how long he´s gone without food, but all i know is they gave me like 3 pieces of cake, and i snuck all of it over to them....and then they went into the other room and brought me out a small little present the size of my hand....i opened it up and it was a pair of socks (haha that looked like they had been worn a bunch of times) but i will never forget my 20th birthday. This family that has absolutely no money, and they live in a shack with gaping holes in it, and they gave me so much. All of the 6 little kids had big smiles on their face as we shared a scripture with them and then played games with them for my birthday! It was a blast, and I will never forget the kindness of that family!!!! Right now we´re working with the church to see if we can get some food over in the house as well!
Thursday, i went to a meeting in Adrogay, for new missionaries. My comp was sick so he stayed back and i took another new missionary from the area of Claypole to the meeting! We took the train, and as we were getting off, it started raining the worst i have ever seen in my entire life. They don’t have any sewer or drainage systems here so everything just floods. I don’t think i could have gotten any more wet if i had been swimming in a pool with all my clothes on!!! haha! It was super crazy, and throughout the whole thing i had a big smile on my face, and my comp finally asked why i was smiling in the crazy weather...and i just told him that i think my hot wife points have doubled just in one day!!! haha we had a good meeting and it was fun to get to see old missionary friends from the mtc! Especially my mtc comp elder davidson! i love the kid to death...we laugh so hard when we´re with each other! i hope one day that we get to be comps again!
well yep! that’s it for me! Thanks for all you guys do for me! As always ill leave you my testimony! Yesterday i got up and bore about a 5 minute testimony in our ward...all in spanish...i was pretty proud of myself...but i know this church is true. i know that Jesus is the Christ, and that his message is one of importance and changes peoples lives. i know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that joseph smith was a profit. I’m starting to really gain a firm, and unshakable belief of this! I love you all, and am super grateful for this opportunity that i have to share my testimony with the people of Argentina! Love you all! And as always i pray for each of you constantly and daily, by name!
Elder Holman!
