Hey Holman-skillets!!
It sounds like all is well in the Holman crib... thanks for all your emails! I love to hear what your all up to...you all said that your letters were boring, but its always super fun for me to hear what all you up to...i like to hear that Jaden farted in a room by himself, and tried to blame someone else for it!!! haha I’m glad that you all got to hit up the cabin, and then work like crazy this whole week! I too had the wonderful opportunity and privilege to work it hard this week!
This last Tuesday we had zone conference, it was probably one of my favorite zone conferences I’ve had on my mission...i don’t know if the other ones were this good, or if it was only that i could finally understand what people were saying in this zone conference. President Stapely taught the zone conference, and it was all about the very first principle in the gospel of Christ and that’s Faith...and not just only faith, but faith unto miracles!!! I learned so much from the meeting, but one thing that was extremely special to me is that God answered a prayer for me, through my mission president....the night before the meeting, i had a bunch of questions on my mind, questions on how i can be a better missionary, a better person...and really i just poured my heart out to God. I asked him to please answer my prayers, and really hoped that i would realize the answer when it came my way...well God heard my prayer, and did answer my prayers. The next day My mission president began to talk about some of the exact things that i had been talking to God with, he answered many of my questions that i had asked the night before...and i was so happy. It truly strengthened my testimony that God does here out prayers, and he will always answer them. The answer might not be exactly what we expect it to be, but i promise that it will come. All we have to do is open up our hearts and look for the answer...
Our president talked about how we need to strengthen our faith in the lord Jesus Christ so we can have the Holy Ghost with us and accomplish miracles in his name. I remember thinking about his teachings this past Wednesday as we were clapping doors in the hot scorching sun!! nobody wanted to listen to us. My comp had cleaned his shoes off in front of a couple houses to because of it, read The D&C and youll understand why he was doing that! hahah! Anyways, as we were about to give up on this certain area, i felt the smallest and slightest feeling that we need to knock a certain house...this feeling was so small that in the moment i probably just thought it was a desperate hunch...but now i understand that it was the spirit... anyways we clapped the house and a lady came walking out with a big smile on her face...probably the first smile i had seen all day....haha but i introduced to her that we are representatives of Jesus Christ and that we have a message for her, and she gladly excepted the invitation for us to come in and teach her. She told us as we began to teach that she has been looking for a church to attend for over two years, but there is always something that she didn´t like or feel was exactly right. As we dove into the first lesson i could see that she was paying very close attention to all our words, she was listening with intent, after we had explained the apostasy, and how the church of Christ was lost in the earth, we began to explain about the profit Joseph Smith, how he had searched for the true church of Christ. As we began to explain his story she stopped us and said, "this boy sounds a lot like me, i have searched church after church looking for the church of Christ, but i have never found it" she was deeply touched as we explained to her the experience that this 14 year old boy had, and how he had restored the church of Christ. She was so eager to read the Book of Mormon as well, we taught to her how she could know our message is true through the Book of Mormon, and she gladfuly accepted. I’m super excited to head back and teach her, we taught her again this past week, and she totally read the parts we marked for her to read and is so excited to learn more!!
In other news after all the scorching heat we had this week, the weather completely changed this past Thursday. It started to rain like crazy for 3 days straight, and i walked around in all of it. I got a super bad cold because of it as well. Yesterday in church I had to teach Principles of the gospel By myself, cuz there weren´t enough teachers in church...i was sneezing and coughing the whole time...and then when i finished teaching i went in sat by my investigators in church, and the bishop came up to me 2 minutes before the meeting started and said, elder Holman, will you speak for 15 minutes today, one of the talks didn’t show up to church this week, so your plan B....haha, when it rains it pours...i spoke for the 15 minutes. i didn’t feel super good about my talk, but my comp said it was super good. he said all our investigators were listening and laugh through the whole thing. I talked about my personal conversion story and how i received a testimony that this church is true.
Well yeah that’s some of the highlight in my week! We worked like crazy as always. Things are good right now, me and my comp are super good friends and are having a good time. This last Friday, my best friend in the mission, elder Herelle, gave me a call, dad he´s my comp you met when we hung out with you in capitol!
