Hahah there’s your Spanish for the week! I’m glad to hear that all’s still well in good old salt lake!!! All is well here in Armpit vill if your all wondering, me and my comp had a pretty fun week! Some of the highlights were dogs peeing on my comp during lessons...awesome investigators coming to church...teaching super awesome lessons....seeing peoples faith in C’hrist grow...and as always finding new people to teach...the only thing i didnt do this week was baptize someone yesterday...but that’s on my to-do list this next week if all goes smoothly :)
This past week we got the awesome opportunity to teach familia Rodriguez. I think i told you a little bit about them, but I’m not all to sure. They were a referral from someone in the ward, we stopped by and started teaching them, and they love us and we love them. We’ve been teaching them for about a month now. When we first started teaching them they weren´t really open to us, they had lots of questions, and doubts, but over the weeks they started to change lesson by lesson...until this last week we had a really incredible lesson with them. We read from the Book of Mormon with them in the beginning chapters of Mosiah, you´ll find in these chapters king Benjamin is giving his famous speech to the citizens in his kingdom. We broke his talk down for them principle by principle precept by precept. I remember we spoke quite a bit about vrs 19 in chapter 3, it sais 19 For the anatural bman is an cenemy to God, and has been from the dfall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he eyields to the enticings of the fHoly Spirit, and gputteth off the hnatural man and becometh a isaint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a jchild, ksubmissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father. We started to explain to them that all that we are trying to do is to help them put off this natural man, and to come unto our lord Jesus Christ. We invited them a long time ago to be baptized and there date is for this Sunday, we asked how they felt about this date, as we listened to the response i was super happy... Melisa Rodrigues said i don’t have any doubt with in my soul that this book is true. She said that she has watched as her faith has been strengthened in her savior by reading it and applying the teaching of this book in her life. She said that she is super worried to be baptized, especially cuz her dad hasn’t received his answer yet, but I’m confident that her dad will receive his answer, and that she’s gonna be baptized next Sunday. She’s a little scared, but I’m gonna do all in my power to help her feel ready to make the covnant with her savior.
Something else that was cool is me and my comp had a lesson with a lady we found clapping doors. Her name is Margarita.... she has read book after book about religions. She has been baptized twice in her life, has a billion ideas about religion, but was so extremely excited to talk to us to hear what we believe. She said she prays to God each night that he will teach her new things about who he is. Something that was super funny to me is my comp was teaching her about our belief in Jesus Christ, and her dog came right up to him and started pissing right in his shoe!! haha i was laughing so hard!!! Margerita loved what we shared with her, and is super excited for us to come back.
Another thing that was really cool was a testimony i heard in church. There’s a little sister in our ward, she’s probably only 45 or 50 and with in the past couple of weeks, her husband just up and left her and their son, and with in days after that she lost her job. She lives in a little old shack, was super worried for how she was going to provide for her family, and the pressures of the world began to pile up on her shoulders. In her testimony she explained that right when she was in the midst of all the stress and the heartache, a Brazilian and a red head showed up at her door. (that’s me and my comp) she explained that we began to ask her if there was anything we could do for her and she said that she wanted a blessing. I remember she asked me to give the blessing as well...i don’t really remember what i said in the blessing...i just remember after leaving the house thinking to myself...that was kind of a lame blessing...but tears filled her eyes yesterday as she said from the pulpit, that she could feel in that blessing the love that her father in heaven had for her, and she said that she received a knowledge through that blessing, that he was aware of her struggles and problems. She said that she learned how she can move on with her life and continue walking forward in the path, with faith in Christ. I felt so strongly the spirit as she bore this experience...especially cuz i remember i didn´t really feel good about the blessing. But i learned that God does speak to his children through the spirit, and that he does use his servants to answer prayers. I was so happy that i could be there for this now widowed and jobless sister just in her moment of need.
Well i gotta run as usual, for p-day me and the district went to quilmes central....its pretty much a mall that has a bunch of American stores...i wanted to leave the whole day, but my comp was liking it to much so we stayed...haha but something that i really liked is we went into a store, it was kinda like an argentine sears...and over 5 times someone asked my comp where they could find a shoe in this size, or where was the refrigerator isle...haha he was getting super mad...it just reminded me of how each time i went to Wal-Mart with dad without fail someone always came up to him and asked him where they could find the sewing section!!! hahaha!!!
Well i love you all, and i want you all to know that i love being a missionary. It is one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I will forever be changed because of the testimony i have gained in my time out here in Argentina. I hope you all have an amazing week, before we know it...it´ll be lunes or Monday in a blink of an eye!! Love you all!!
