Miracles - March 11th

Hey HOLMANS!!!

Its P-day, one of best days of the week cuz i get to talk to you guys, and finally get to breath for a bit, just to hop right back into the work!!!

Wow this week was probably one of the craziest weeks of my mission. So much has happened that i don’t know where to start with, and i don’t have the time to tell you all the miracles and crazy things that happened...but I’m gonna attempt to just send you a couple of experiences that i had this week...you ready to have your socks blown off with some miracles i saw this week...i hope so...

Before i dive on into the weeks work...i need to back up about two weeks ago. My mission president, President Stapely, gave probably my favorite zone conference of my mission, the subject La fe hasta milagros...or The Faith unto miracles. He spoke about how faith is related to power and if we have enough faith, we can have the power to move mountains. Our mission president humbled us greatly as he informed us that as missionaries individually, and as a mission, we do NOT have enough faith in our lord Jesus Christ. I was a little bit shocked...but our president sat down with us and explained to us that we are capable of having miracles in our lives, but because of our lack of faith we lack what we could have.

I don’t know if many of you are familiar with the 3rd Indiana Jones the last crusade, but I’m just gonna assume that your not... but in this movie Indian jones shows the perfect example of faith. Go ahead an check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFntFdEGgws

In this part of the movie Indiana Jones stands on a cliff in a canyon and he needs to get to the other side of the canyon to save his fathers life...the only problem is, there’s a1000 foot drop in front of him....but Indiana Jones takes a step of faith that he can make it across the canyon.... sometimes in our lives we walk in the dark, and we don’t really now exactly what decision we should make, or how to accomplish something, but if we have the faith and trust in God we will see the miracle. in the example of Indiana Jones he was in the dark, but he trusted in the book he had (the scriptures) and then took a step of faith, and he did not fall but he accomplished what he needed to do.

In the Book of Mormon we can read the classic example of faith in the book of either. The brother of Jared had a problem. He had made boats to enter into the Atlantic Ocean to go to the promise land...but there was a problem, there was no light in the boats, so he turned to the lord for help. In chapter 2 verse 23 the lord sais

23 And the Lord said unto the brother of Jared: What will ye that I should do that ye may have light in your vessels? For behold, ye cannot have awindows, for they will be dashed in pieces; neither shall ye take fire with you, for ye shall not go by the light of fire.

In this scripture the lord asks the Brother of Jared pretty much what do you want me to do about the problem you have? and because the brother of Jared’s great faith he presented his plan....

4 And I know, O Lord, that thou hast all apower, and can do whatsoever thou wilt for the benefit of man; therefore touch these stones, O Lord, with thy bfinger, and prepare them that they may shine forth in darkness; and they shall shine forth unto us in the vessels which we have prepared, that we may have clight while we shall cross the sea.
6 And it came to pass that when the brother of Jared had said these words, behold, the aLord stretched forth his hand and touched the stones one by one with his bfinger. And the cveil was taken from off the eyes of the brother of Jared, and he saw the finger of the Lord; and it was as the finger of a man, like unto flesh and blood.....

What i learned from this scripture is that if we present a plan to God and ask in faith that he will help us accomplish this plan, god will do it and you will see miracles along the way...

By the end of zone conference i was humbled enough to realize that i need to strengthen my faith in my savior more, and when i do i will see the fruits of my faith, or the miracle...

Not this past Saturday, but the Saturday before that, we had an investigator named Melisa Rodriguez she said that she felt good about the teachings but she wasn’t really sure how well she felt about baptism...especially for the 10th of march... she also hadn´t really received a clear answer that this was Gods true church....as me and my comp walked away from the lesson i explained to my comp...we need a miracle. Melisa is gonna be baptized this Sunday and we´re gonna do all we can to help her be ready, and we know that even when we have done all we can do it still wont be enough. We need the help of God. We decided that we are going to pray for her and on Thursday we are going to fast for 24 hours that she can receive her answer and make the decision to be baptized on the 10th.

We started our fast Thursday and our appointment right before lunch on Friday was Melisa. As we got to the house we started the lesson and asked her if she received her answer yet. She paused and began to explain...she said that about four o´clock in the morning she woke up, she said that she couldn´t sleep. She tried and tried but nothing...all she could do was think about the missionaries and the message they shared with her. She said that she began to pase back and fourth in her room, i believe that salvation weighed deeply on her soul. I don’t know all the details, because she didn’t tell us all about her sacred moment, but she told us that she had received her answer from God, that the Book of Mormon was true, and that the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints is the Church of Jesus Christ, restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. She had received her answer...and me and my comp had received our miracle. After we walked away from that house, we both said to each other that we had witnessed a miracle. That a couple of days ago she wasn´t even close to receiving an answer and wasn’t even thinking about baptism, but because of our faith, the lord blessed us, we witnessed first hand the miracle. Yesterday i had the amazing opportunity of baptizing Melisa. Her father told her that he didn’t agree with her, but she was old enough to make her own decision. She was the only person from her family there at that baptism. It was a miracle to be able to see her make that covenant, and i thank my heavenly father for letting me be an instrument in his hands.

The other crazzzzy thing that happened this week is me and my comp Elder Dos Santos are gonna be doing another whitewash!!!! President closed down the area next to us Guttierez -B (our area was Guttierez -A) but now we´re gonna be running both of them!!! Me and my comp are super excited!!! Our area is huge now!!!! i have no idea how were gonna do it, but were gonna run like crazy, and have the faith that the lord will help us with this new assignment.

I love the work right now. This is just a few of the many miracles i saw this week. I’m so grateful to my heavenly father that he has given me this opportunity, to serve a mission. i know that I’m just a 20 year old boy, and God has entrusted me to carry the most important message to the world. I will forever be grateful for the lesson that i have learned on my mission, the miracles i saw...and above all, for the testimony i have gained of my savior Jesus Christ. I love the savior, because of my time hear i have started to comprehend what he did for me, and I’m so happy that i can share with everyone what they have to do to except Christ as their savior.

Well i gots to run! Pray for me this week, cuz were gonna be running two areas now! i love you all. Before we know it we´ll be talking again next week! Trust in the lord and have the faith in him, and i can promise you that you will witness the miracle.

Elder Holman
