Hey Holmans!!!
Thanks for all of
your emails! It was super good to hear from you all!! Sorry i don’t have a
whole lot of time today, im fighting the clock, cuz i saved writing you guys
for the last thing on my list of things to do on p-day!! Man wasn’t
General Conference awesome!!! I absolutely loved it! i hope you all listened in
and were as lifted up as i was. It was so fun listening to the inspired
messages, as well as seeing the temple the roads i use to drive on, augies
mom...and all that fun jazz!! haha!!
This week absolutely
flew by for me, one of the fastest in the mission. And the crazy thing is, is
the weeks just keep getting faster and faster for me, i feel like an old man
sometimes when I’m saying this...but i guess the more time you got in the
mission the faster it flies! This past week was packed full of fun teaching!!
This last Miercoles i had the fun opportunity of doing intercombios with one of
my best buds in the mission... Elder Giest. He’s from Las Vegas and speaks the
most incredible Spanish I’ve heard from a yankee. Lots of people think he’s
from Argentina he speaks so well. But me and him had a super cool experience in
his area. We were teaching a family that elder Giest had only taught once. He
said the guy came up to him in the street, and begged him to help him. He said
that he is a drug addict, alcoholic, he has a family of 5 children and a wife
(but they’re not married) and he just cried to elder Giest and told them he
didn’t want to loose them and wanted to know if he could help him. As Giest
went to his house and shared the first vision he said all of them listened in amazement
as he shared the first vision, declaring to them that Christ’s gospel is back
on the earth and that Christ can help them. The next day him and i went to
teach them again and i had one of the most incredible lessons of my mission. We
entered in…it was a humble home...sat on the floor cuz there wasn’t enough
chairs in the house to fit us all and we taught to them The plan of happiness.
We explained to them the questions of the soul where did we come from, why are
we here, and where are we going. As they all listened very carefully i could
feel the spirit so strongly, testifying to me of the divinity of Gods plan, and
they could feel it too. The dad began to cry as we testified of the sacred
grove. When Christ took upon him the temptations, sins and afflictions of the
world, making it possible for us to return to live with God, and making it
possible for Christ to help us with our trials. The most beautiful thing is, we
invited them to live Gods commandments, and begin their process in this life
for complete joy and peace. We invited them to get married, and to then to be
baptized afterwards. The wife for a little bit was on the defensive end…something
that’s usually weird cuz its always the other way around...she said that she
didn´t see the difference of a paper saying they were married...after all it is
only a paper. i learned something in that moment very important, and that’s
always let the spirit guide. Elder Guiest paused and began to explain to her
things that could only of come from heaven, towards the end of that lesson they
were both ready to get married, and ready to be baptized...a note that i had
left out, was just 2 days before the mother of this family had declared that
she was atheist...she said there could not be a god in all the badness in the
world...after being touched by the spirit so deeply in her heart, she excepted
to be married, baptized and excepted that there is something out there...and
that’s god...pretty neat stuff!
Another cool
experience i had this week was on Saturday night....we had to go back home to
our apartment early, because the priesthood session of conference got over at
like 10:30 here... I didn’t get to see the priesthood session, so i carefully
studied my notes i had taken earlier in the day. I felt the distinct impression
that i should kneel down and ask heavenly father a question that had been on my
mind for quite some time. As i knelt down and prayed i felt that my question
would be answered, and the distinct feeling it would be answered through the
apostles and profits...so i wrote my question down, and prayed that God would
send an answer...In the Sunday afternoon session, i heard two talks, that i
felt were a direct answer to my prayers, in the moment i was so deeply touched
by the spirit, and the fact that god would answer my prayers so quickly and so
exactly that i was left without words. I remember Sunday night kneeling down on
my knees and thanking God for giving me the answer of my prayers through his apostles.
Im so grateful to
live in a time where the gospel of Jesus Christ is on the earth. I thought in
the beginning of my mission that i was called to share the first vision with
the world, but that is only the beginning, the true purpose of being a
missionary is to testify that Jesus Christ has risen, that his priesthood is
once again on the earth, and that he has raised up Profits and apostles in
theses latter days to share with the world how we can come unto Christ and do
the things he wants us to do, by following his commandments. I was so deeply
touched this last conference session, that when the prophet stood up and closed
the session, i was literally sad, i almost felt like crying. I didn’t wanna go
back. The beauty of the messages that we heard, is that we don’t have to go
back, if we apply the messages that we heard, and work to be better, we will
more fully be converted to Christ and come unto him. I’m so grateful to be a servant
of the great and all mighty savior. To share his message with the world, and to
help others find him. I invite you all to ponder deeply the messages that we
have heard, if you do this, you will find areas that you can improve, ways that
you can strengthen your testimony, and the path to happiness to peace, and joy
in sometimes what seems like a wicked and dark world. There is light and
happiness, and it is through our lord Jesus Christ!
Well i love you and
have to run, ill see you all next week! Your all in my prayers, keep choosing
the right and living your lives the way Christ wants you to, because that’s how
we will truly be the happiest! Brock good luck with winning prez! Coleson keep
rockin B-ri!-ant, and William better luck on that cinnamon challenge....just to
let you know it is possible to swallow it all...i did it on the mission! And
baby Jaden im so happy you lost "tows teeths" put it under the pillow
and the tooth fairy will hopefully come...or maybe the argentine rat...that’s
the tradition here...a rat comes under the pillow and takes your teeth during
the night...how appropriate for Argentina...that ones a little bit more
believable for me, hahah!!! love you all!
Elder Holman
