How goes life up in the good old USA, i miss that place!!! haha thanks for sending me emails this week, its great to read up on how your all doing, Sky you sound great, Star and chance you guys sound like your doing awesome as well, i laughed super hard at the video of chances teacher falling a sleep in class...sometimes i wish i could fall asleep like her in the middle of class, when i have investigators blabbering on about Maria or Marry in the catholic church for an hour...and no matter how hard I try to jump in the conversation they just keep on talking...haha that happened to me this week, everybody in this country is super stoked on the new pope, because he is from Argentina :)
Mom and dad you sound awesome as well! i hope your loving Idaho dad, haha and good luck with housing the Russian judges mom...whos gonna get top bunk...Brock or the Russians :) haha
This week for me flew by like crazy...its funny cuz yesterday around 7 o´clock i asked my comp, after we went to church today who all did we visit...i honestly couldn´t remember and the funny thing is, my comp couldn’t remember either...we had to think about it for a couple of minutes and then it all came back to us...that goes to show that we´re working hard, i honestly need to keep a better journal as well, cuz if i cant remember what i did in the morning, i cant remember what i did during the week...haha I just know that it was full of helping others strengthen there testimonies and come unto Christ so it was a good week!!
One thing that was super cool this past week is my whole zone of missionaries got to do something called tormenta blanco or white storm. When two elders are struggling in their area and aren´t really having a whole lot of success we send in the white storm or about 16 elders in white shirts :) haha the morning of the white storm i looked out the window, and it was an actual storm, it was raining like crazy, but that didn´t stop us, me and my comp ran to the train station, met a testigo de jehova or Jehovah Witness’ that wanted to bible bash and then finally met up with all of the elders in the area of crucial de vorela. We got our assignment for comps for the morning and i was with elder goodman from arizona...and it just so happened to be, that crucial de verela was his area.
He told me the area was super hard, and that ill understand what he means just by working a couple of hours there, we walked all morning in the rain and nobody wanted to listen to us. After walking for a while the rain stopped and we found a little old grandma in front of her house...we started talking to her and found out that her husband had just passed away about 5 months ago, and the pain was still so real, and she began to cry when she expressed this to us. She said it is so hard for her to this very day. After listening to her very carefully we explained a little bit about the plan of salvation to her in front of her house, and then i asked her in this sweet and special moment if she would like to know exactly where her husband is this very moment?....and she paused...and then responded maybe next week? You wanna pass by then?....haha as we walked away elder Goodmen said, you see what i mean this area is impossible!!! haha as we were walking a guy found us in the street and started talking to us about the church and what we do. he was in his 20´s and we were walking down the street explaining to him what we do as missionaries and how our purpose is to help bring others to Christ...as we continued walking down the street with him, i felt him pat my back pack a couple of times, and then he said to me "give me your backpack now!" I said to him, are you kidding me? We were just talking about Jesus and now your robbing me...then he screamed again...da mi su mochila, or give me your backpack and pointed to his goods like he had a gun in there!!! haha i looked at my comp and he said in English without hesitation...RUN!!! haha and so we ran like sissies for about 5 or 6 blocks! He first started to chase after us but then turned the other direction and ran!!! hahah I told Elder Goodmen, you were right, this area is terrible!!! hahaha!
I’m glad he didn’t rob me cuz i had my scriptures and my camera in my backpack!!! Close call!! Apparently so many missionaries are getting robbed in the mission right now that our president is gonna hold a self defense course this week!! I’m pretty pumped to see what he has to teach us cuz he’s about 58 years old!! I’ll let you know next week about how it was to learn the good old 1 swing , 2 swing :)
haha yesterday was a super good Sunday for us because we had stake conference, but it was a little bit different then your average stake conference, we got to hear from the President of the 70 here, as well as Elder Nelson from the 12 apostles. It was a live broadcast that they did for every steak here in Argentina, and it was so awesome. The president of the 70 spoke about the importance it is to always have questions, and to seek out the answers through personal revelation, he encouraged us to have questions particularly for this general conference that’s coming up. I’m super excited for general conference by the way, its gonna be awesome!!! And then after we heard the president of the 70 we listened to Elder Nelson. What was incredible to me, is he gave his talk in perfect Spanish....what’s even more incredible is elder nelson doesn´t speak Spanish, but he communicated with all of Argentina in there native language, a couple of my investigators in church said "hey, he sounds exactly like you"....haha i didn´t know whether to take it as a compliment or not, cuz he had a pretty thick American accent :) But He talked about conversion, he shared an experience that he had when he visited a king in Africa, the king was so excited that an apostle of the lord was visiting him that he said to elder Nelson, if you want i can command all of my kingdom to be baptized and they will have to do it, and you’ll have thousands of more members in you church. Elder Nelson began to explain to him that that its a nice thought, but they wont be true members of the church because they wont be converted, only baptized. He then went on to explain before a king how we can be truly converted to the Church of Christ.
I have seen in my mission the wonderful blessing it is to help people come unto the true church of Christ, and I’m so grateful for the conversion i have had, and the opportunity i have to share the gospel with the world. I know that God lives and that he loves each and every one of us, and is eager to help us with our trials and wants to answer our prayers. Yesterday i heard something in the conference that i loved, someone said, "when you find yourself in a place where you can’t understand anybody, pause, and thank god that he can always understand you." I loved hearing that because i was brought back to my first couple of weeks in Argentina, when i really couldn’t understand anyone, and the only person that could understand me was god.
I know that he lives and understands speaks with each one of us. I know that he loves us and because he loves us he sent his only begotten son, This being the greatest gift a loving father could give his children. Through him we can find peace in moments of hardship or trial, and through his great and everlasting name we can one day return to live with our father in heaven. I’m so grateful for my savior and the love he has for me. This week i invite you all to take a moment and think about our savior and what he means to you in your life. Easter season is when we commemorate the resurrection of our savior, and i want you all to know, that i have a testimony of my savior, and that i love him.
Well I’ve been fighting the clock this whole time, me and my comp gotta run, we have an appointment coming up in a bit!! :) as always i want you all to know that i Love you, and that your in my prayers! Have a great week!!!
