Hey Holman fam!!!
What’s going on?? Thanks for the emails team, is always fun to hear what your all up to! I’m glad to hear that you guys got to go up to the cabin for the work day without me! jaja!! That’s cool that star and chance are in DC. I’ve had a couple of comps that went there and they said it’s super cool, but if what all the Argentines tell me is true, its sounds like the US shut down the government for a couple of days, that’s kind of crazy, hopefully its back up and running?? Just be grateful that you have a government that’s not super corrupt, its sad to see so many crazy power hungry politicians screw up so many lives here....haha man I’m turning into an argentine, that’s all they do, complain about the government and how its corrupt, and how they live in poop and dirt...but sometimes i don’t feel to bad for them cuz they could go get a job or something but they like to sit in their huts watching their satellite tv instead of working! haha kinda funny!!
This past week was a super good one! I liked it a lot, it started off really slow my comp told me that him and his old comp baptized all of the investigators they had in the area...and that we literally have 2 investigators in our area to teach.... so i told him it was time to go fishing for men!! As with all fishing you gotta be patient and trust in the lord that he will guide you to people searching for the truth, and of course be completely obedient so that the spirit can send you to those people, and i feel that the lord truly did hear our prayers this week and blessed us with new people.
From what I’ve found from my time in the mission, the trick to finding knew people to teach is to just talk to everyone, which i like doing, and most the people like talking to two random yankee kids as well. Yesterday we found a lady named Sandra in our area, and she said that we could come in and bless her house if we wanted, and of course we wanted to do more then just bless her house. As missionaries we try to teach people, not lessons...anyone can go into a house and spit out a lesson about Joseph Smith or or God or even the restoration, but if we want investigators that progress, we need to teach them according to her needs, as we talked to Sandra and learned who she was and her questions about life, i honestly wasn’t sure what we should teach her, but i said a prayer in my heart that god would let us teach to her needs, and as i finished that prayer, she began to explain to us that her husband had died a couple years ago, and that she truly was struggling in life. I had the small impression that we should talk about the plan of salvation, and as we began to explain to her, my heart began to swell up. I knew that that was exactly what she needed to hear, and that God had heard and answered my prayer. As we came to a close in the lesson, she invited us to come back again this week, and also mentioned that she had a daughter that had two children and was on drugs, and that she wants us to come back to teach her daughter the message we shared with her. The lord truly did hear and answer our prayers.
Fishing started to even get better when yesterday me and my comp stopped by to ask 4 men for directions, we didn´t know it but they were a little bit tipsy and had been drinking a little. They answered our question, and then started to ask us if we wanted to sit down and have a drink with them, and to their surprise we said no, they began to ask if we had ever drunk before, we explained no, jaja and they were so shocked, they wanted to know why two 21 year old guys don’t drink, and i replied to them all that we would love to stop by all there houses and explain to them and their families about why we don’t drink, and that was because we wanted to follow Christ, they one by one gave us there directions, we laughed a little too much with them...and before we left, one of the drunkest guys got up and sang a song to my comp right in his face! It was the funniest thing ever, before we left, some of the drunken men’s wives came out of the house, confirmed to us there address to stop by and teach them, it was awesome.
This past general conference they said to the missionaries that if we wanted more people to teach, we had to talk to absolutely everyone, and so that’s exactly what we did, and it worked :)
This past week as well, i taught a lady named Alicia, her son is a Mormon and he recently left for the mission in Chile. She explained to us that her son was the only member in his family and that he had born his testimony to her before he left on his mission about the truthfulness of the church. She said that just recently those words that he said to her were the only thing that she could think about. She said she could hear in her head over and over his voice, testifying to her of the truthfulness of the gospel. As we began to teach her Alicia, for the first time in her life felt the spirit, in that moment i asked her what she was willing to do to follow the savior, and she expressed that she was willing to do anything, i replied, then will you follow his example and be baptized by somebody that hold the power and authority of god, and she said yes. It was a beautiful moment. I put myself in the shoes of that missionary in Chile, and i thought, what a blessing it would be to know that your non-member mother listened to the missionaries and was converted while you where on the mission. I hope that the Lord will bless us to continue touching her heart, and helping her feel the spirit, so that she can be baptized and so that missionary can return to his family, with a mother that’s a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. What a blessing!!
Well, i gotta run, we don’t have too much time left! i want you all to know that i love you and pray for you all each night!! Thanks for all the prayers you’re sending my way, i can feel them!
