Hey Holman family!!
How are all of you guys doing? Thanks for all your emails! i loved reading all the things that you guys are up to! I’m writing a little bit later today cuz i had a bunch of Zone stuff to do...Today was my comps last P-day in the mission (elder Preece) and the last P- day for an elder Hansen in Ezeiza as well...and on the last p-day of your mission you always have to work...well long story short, elder Hansen’s comp had to go get his visa renewed and since his comp had to work, i was the only one that got to go with him, so i had to go to Adrogue at 9 in the morning to take an elder that’s not even my comp to capital to sit in lines all day to get his visa going....haha I’m super tired! And then i opened up my emails to see over 18 emails from the mission of stuff that i need to take care of! haha sooo, needless to say, i don’t have a whole lot of time to write you guys, but not counting today, this past week was a great one!!
The Goal for last week was Alicia, Alicia, Alicia!! She´s an investigator that we started teaching the second day i got in my area! We had a goal for her to get baptized at the end of this past week, and when we looked at how much we still needed to teach her, we decided we were going to have to work with her every single day if she was going to be getting baptized! Almost each night during the last week we passed by the house. She expressed to us that she was learning so much, and was loving everything we were teaching her. The only member in her family is her 25-year-old son Matis. A couple of months ago Matis left on the mission, which was a really hard decision for him to make, because he was the man of the house, he left his mother behind and two younger brothers behind, which was hard for them because he was the main provider for the family. As Matis left for the mission, his mother told us that she started to remember and hear in her head things Matis told her about the church and about Christ. After thinking about what Matis had said and taught her, is when she wanted to get in contact with us, the missionaries. As we started to teach her she was progressing very slowly. Then one Sunday Matis and his mother walked into church together. Matis bore his testimony that day and explained that he had returned because of problems with health, he was so sick that he couldn't keep anything down in his system...
After he came back we started passing by the house more regularly and teaching Alicia with her son Matis. I saw a huge difference in her once her son taught with us. Her desire to follow Christ increased. This past week we had the chance to teach her almost everyday and she completely changed - she said she was willing to keep all of the commandments and also that she was willing to make the sacred covenant to follow Christ. This past Saturday I watched Alicia and her son Matis walk into the baptismal font dressed in all white and watched as she made that covenant. As she came out of the water, she hugged her son and wept with tears of joy. You could feel the spirit so strongly.
Later after the baptism i asked Matis what all he had found out about his studies on his health, because he was extremely preoccupied on getting healthy again so that he can go back on his mission. He explained to me that lots of doctors have met with him and have studied his sickness and have said that they cant find anything. The only reason they believe that he was so sick is because of nerves...but both his mother, him, and me, believe that there is a different reason...and that’s that God new he needed to come back to baptize his mother, one of the most important baptisms of his mission here on the earth. The second he came back is when his mother changed and wanted to follow Christ. We should always remember that God is in charge, and that everything happens for a reason. God works in mysterious ways, and he knew exactly how to change the heart of Alicia, and it was through her own son.
Well i don’t have a whole lot of time to write cuz i have a million more Elders to write, but that was my little miracle for the week.
I love you all so much. I want you all to know that i know the church is true, that we have a prophet on the earth today that speaks to God. I also know that Joseph smith was a prophet, that he did in reality translate the Book of Mormon, and that the Book of Mormon is true. These are all super small truths that i know, but its true what the prophet Alma says by small and simple things, are great things brought to pass! My testimony of the truth means everything to me, and i know that through those small truths, great miracles can come to pass. Like Alicia being baptized!
