Transfer time - new area and companion

Hey Holman Family,

Hows it going? Thanks for all of your emails! It’s fun to hear what your all up to!

Wow i had an exciting crazy week!!! I don’t even know where to start. I’m so tired form lack of sleep that i can feel my body shakin’! I was jipped on many hours of sleep due to traveling and many other things! haha The life of a missionary!

This past week went by so fast! The trigger has been officially pulled and i have killed my old Comp, Elder Preece (that’s missionary talk… have a returned missionary explain) Elder Preece should be getting back to Nevada tmrrw! He has probably been one of my favorite comps! He’s going to be a really good friend after the mission! But I am officially now with an Elder Dodge from Orem Utah! He’s a super stud! He´s going to be going home in December, so I’m gonna be killing another one! I am now officially an assassin!! It was a really crazy transfer call as well, because president is making some big changes in the mission. Before my zone was Monte Grande A and there was another zone called Monte Grande B, but president took the A and B out of the zone and now were just one zone. There are over 36 missionaries in the zone...the biggest one in the mission! Because of all of the changes president took me out of my last area of Ezeiza and now is making me and my new comp do a whitewash in an area called 9 de abril! It’s going to be super fun! Today we finally found the pench after lugging our luggage on trains buses and all over dirt road... once we found the pench we left on search for a ciber to write you guys, we had no idea where to go but finally found one! It should be a fun transfer. I’m pretty excited for it! Its going to be super hard, but i know that God’s going to help us if we put our trust in him.

This past week I made a new goal and decided that I need to write in my journal each day about all the spiritual experiences i have each day. In the mission there are so many spiritual experiences that happen that we sometimes just become use to it. So i made the goal to write down each time i felt the spirit.  In Helamen chapter 5 vrs 30 we learn a little bit more of how the spirit works, it says 30 And it came to pass when they heard this avoice, and beheld that it was not a voice of thunder, neither was it a voice of a great tumultuous noise, but behold, it was a bstill voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper, and it did pierce even to the very soul—

.... In this verse we learn that the voice of the spirit isn’t a voice of thunder, but a still small voice. I made the decision that i would strive each second of the day to hear that "small voice" And i was deeply touched because of it.

This past Wednesday, i found that we had tried over 15 houses and that nobody was letting us in. I decided to say a prayer and ask God to lead us to where we needed to go. As i said that prayer in my heart in the middle of the dirt road, i looked right up at a house next to me. i felt the smallest slightest small voice say to me go and to her. It was a lady sitting in front of her house. I instantly justified to not do it, but the voice came again. As i went up to her and began to talk to her of the church i asked if she had a belief in god she told me no, I asked her why, and she explained to me that she had believed in god all of her life until the death of her brother. She said to me that she prayed with all her heart that he would live after a terrible motorcycle accident, and that he died. She asked me if god lives why would he abandon me in my moment of need! As i listened to this dear old lady i was able to testify with all of my heart that God did live and that he had heard her prayers and that she would see her brother again. I shared with her that God had lead us right to her, that i had felt an impression to go and talk to her and that God wanted her to know where her brother was. After talking only at her doorstep for over 30 minutes, and sharing a couple scriptures from the Book of Mormon, she told us that we could come back and teach her, that she wanted more then anything to have her brother again.

This may not sound all to special to you guys, but i thought it was so incredible of how god had told me exactly where to go, and in the moment exactly what to say. He hears the prayers of all of his children and he answers their prayers through angels, but not angels in heaven but his messengers and witnesses here on the earth.

This past week also I had a moment where i felt the spirit testify of Christ so strongly to me. We had the special opportunity in the mission to hear Elder Holland speak to us. He came and spoke to the west north and south mission. He said many incredible things that i probably will never forget, but there for sure is one thing i will never forget, and that’s the way i felt. I remember at one point, writing in my notes, the impressions i was feeling from the spirit, and i remember writing that i literally felt that God was speaking to me. And this is exactly what prophets do, they speak through the Holy Ghost the words that god would speak, when i listened to Elder Holland speak i felt my insides burn...no it wasn’t that crazy sour meat i ate the night before...it was the spirit. How blessed we are to have 15 ordained men that can communicate directly with God and share with the world the things we have to do to return to live with him. I will never forget how strong the spirit was in that moment.

I invite you guys to think about the last time you felt the spirit. Ponder about how you felt, and then write down the way you felt so you will never forget it. We should strive in our lives to feel the spirit daily, if we don’t, we know that we are either not listening to the small impressions he’s giving us, or that we are not living our lives in a way that he can always be our constant companion. Strive to have the spirit with you guys!!

Well i love you guys like crazy! pray for me this week! im going to need your prayers especially cuz me and my comp are new to this area! You´ll all be in my prayers!

Love Elder Holman
The land-man!
