How you guys doing? How was your Halloween? How’s the family? Are you guys all sugared out? hahah i hope not! My week was a pretty good one, it went by super fast, i can hardly believe its Monday again, the days are flying by like hours and the weeks are flying by like days, i can hardly believe that October is done and over with!! But as the argentines say "que va a ser" or whatcha’ gonna do about it!
This past week was, I’m pretty sure, more meetings then actual teaching time. Tuesday we had 2 meetings over 3 hours each, and Wednesday I had my first Jedi council...that’s what we call the zone leader meeting with the president, and that started at 9 in the mourning and went until 5! It was the longest meeting ever! Then we had ward council and other meetings on top of that in the week, but the time that we did have to teach during the week was well spent, and we had lots of cool experiences happen.
This past week we passed by two investigators named Graciela and Nacho. I don’t know if i told you guys or not about how we found them, but pretty much one night we were looking for a house of an old investigator and we stopped by a house to ask three man sitting out in front of the house if they new where the old investigator lived, to our surprise, when we started talking to them they were all suppperrrr drunk! But it was super funny, and they were super nice drunks...well after messing with them and talking with them for a bit, Nacho said that we could come by his house to teach him and his wife. We passed by one time a couple days after...so they could sober up...and left them with a Book of Mormon. Well this past week we stopped by again, and the Hermana Graciela was reading the Book of Mormon like crazy, she had read over 5 chapters, and she wanted to know all about the book, how we have it, why is there more scriptures then the bible...she also made a comment that made me laugh, before we had even taught her about the restoration she explained that there is no way that Joseph Smith could have written the book! As we began to dive into the lesson of the first lesson, they began to feel the spirit, and the love that God has for them. I was so shocked as well, because when we asked them questions they answered them perfectly. It hit me that God had been preparing them for a long time. Graciela even explained that over 15 years ago she attended church. As we finished the lesson both of them thanked us and wanted us to come back.
As we biked away from that house both me and my comp couldn´t help but smile and laugh at what had just happened. The first time we saw them, especially Nacho, he was so drunk he could hardly even stand up straight, and now he had a baptismal date/goal. I thought to myself about a talk the Prophet gave to us two priesthood sessions ago. President Monson talked about a missionary that he knew that had had lots of success in his mission, he asked the missionary what is secret was, and the missionary responded, i try to baptize everyone I see. It doesn’t matter if there is a man that is dirty or filthy, or has a cigar in his mouth and bottle of alcohol in the other. We should look at that man as a child of God; we should imagine that man cleanly shaven, dressed in white moments before he enters the baptismal fount. We should see man, not as they are, but what they can become....As me and my companion biked away, i learned a valuable lesson. We are all children of God, and we can all change. This is what i saw in Nacho and Graciela as we taught them. We should always keep that in mind that even though someone doesn´t act, talk, dress, or look like us, they are children of our father in heaven. He loves them. We must see past their weaknesses and faults and invite them to rise up, to become Disciples of the master and follow him. Perhaps we are scared to invite them, or we quickly justify to ourselves that they won’t follow Christ because of the way they look, or act, but in those moments we should see them, dressed in white, entering the waters of baptism. I know that’s the way that our savior looks at us. He doesn’t see us as we are right now, but as what we can become. He see´s past are weaknesses, faults, and sins, and he looks right at our hearts. He knows who we can become. We are heirs to the thrown of God. We must remember to see others the way God sees us.
Also this past week we had the chance to teach Alicia, if everything goes smoothly she should be getting baptized the end of this week! We have a lot of things to teach her as well, but I’m hoping and praying that she makes it.
Well i love you Holman family. You’re all in my prayers and on my mind. I hope that you all have a wonderful week, like always ill be praying for you guys, and thanks for the prayers you send my way, i can feel them. They help me out more then you guys think. :) I want you guys to know that I know the church is true. I know that we are led by a Prophet of God today on the earth. He is the mouthpiece for our lord and savior. I know that Christ lives. I witness miracles daily by being out here in the mission field, and the only explanation to all these wonderful miracles is that God truly lives and cares and watches over you and me!
