Wassup cabinnn crew!!!
haha thanks for all the emails, I’m glad you all got to go to the cabin, change into church clothes in a snowy parking lot, go to church, and then get to kick it in the snow all day....while all of you were freezing cold this week cuddled up next to the fire, i was sweating like a dog...i can now say that I have lived, and survived, a day (without AC) that was over 125 degrees!! whooo, and never again do i want to live through that!!! hahaha but it sounded like you all had a killer time! i hope you were thinking of me as you were climbing mountains and sledding down them! haha thanks for all the pics dad! i loved them! And sky- that video was sick of you flying down the mountain! haha I’m totally doing that when i come home!!
Well this week went by so fast that i don’t really remember a whole lot about it! haha i was terrible about writing in my journal and working so hard that it literally just flew by!
One of the biggest highlights of my week was we got to have interviews with President! I remember that when i walked into his office the very first thing he had me do was put my shoes, on a chair and he began to scrub all the dirt off that i had from walking around in the dirt roads and muddy streets. when he began to do it i told him that he didn’t have to clean my shoes, and he told me, elder i love you, and i want to serve you so please let me clean your shoes. As he was scrubbing my shoes down and putting on fresh polish, my mind instantly went to the New Testament, and a teaching from the perfect example, Christ. In the book of John we read.... Then cometh he(Christ) to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet i ? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. 9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. 12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? 13 Ye all me aMaster and Lord... 14 If I then, your Lord and aMaster, have bwashed your feet; ye also ought to cwash one another’s dfeet. 15 For I have given you an aexample, that ye should do as I have done to you...
As my president sat and scrubbed my shoes clean i couldn’t help but think about how he was following Christ’s example, how he loved me and so he wanted to serve me. The highlight of our interview, after discussing my area and how it was progressing, I asked him if he would give me a priesthood blessing. He gladly accepted, and put his hands on my head and declared through the holy priesthood a blessing. Something that was different yet powerful, is he began the blessing and then paused, for about 5 minutes he said absolutely nothing, and then a little miracle began to happen. He began to talk about things in my blessing, that i have only prayed about with God, he began to give me advise and answers to prayers that i have been praying about for a while, and then he blessed me in ways that i can bless and serve others. As he finished the blessing i could feel an external force or the Holy Ghost so strongly. It was an experience that was very dear and close to my heart, and so, as i left his office, i was re-motivated and so excited to go to work. haha i worked so hard that i could barely keep my eyes open this week!
This week we found a sick new family that we have been teaching; half of the family has fetches or dates to be baptized. Yesterday i had a cool opportunity to teach a 16-year-old kid named Lucyano as well. After going to church for a month with his sister (the only member in her family) he finally excepted the missionary’s, and after talking with him and sharing the most important message in the world about the restoration of Christ’s church he accepted to be baptized on the tenth of Feb.
This past week i also had the opportunity to teach an investigator named maxi! The guy is 29 and has lived through absolutely everything. Drugs, argentine army, and has a list as long as his arm of people that are...well pretty much trying to kill him... I’ve watched his life turn around as he has applied the message of Christ in his life. This past week we had a lesson on the expiacion or atonement of Christ, everything he did for us, and how he can change out lives. haha at the end of the lesson we invited him to be baptized and he paused, smiled, and then said ¨yes¨!! haha it was so sick!
im loving the work here in this new area! It’s amazing. The experiences that I’m having truly are life changing! i love that i have the opportunity each day, to teach others of Christ. To strengthen their faith, to help them repent and find inner peace through Christ, and then watch as they enter into the waters of baptism making of covenant with Christ to follow him!
Well, I’m out of time! haha really quick the reason im writing later today is cuz my comp had to go renew his visa this morning! haha while he was doing that i got to go kick it with two of my favorite elders in the mission! The assistants!! haha i played basketball with them this morning for the first time since i was in Washington! it was super sick..haha and super hard! One of the assistance played for BYU Hawaii before the mission! haha i couldn’t make anything against him! haha well i gotta run!
As always i pray for you constantly and i want you all to know that i know that god lives. That Christ is his son, he came to this earth not to be served but to serve others. He is the perfect example, and through and in his name, our lives can be changed forever. I’m so grateful for the knowledge that i have of his church! And I’m so blessed to bear his name on my chest, and share his message with the world!! welp im out!
