Hey Holman Family!
How’s it going, I hope really really cold....cuz i don’t think i have ever been hotter in my entire life...yesterday it was 105 degrees as i sat in my bed... and that’s without humidity... i couldn’t sleep at all...i was all sweaty in my bed...and then to make it worse the power went out, and so the little small fan that me and my companion were sharing stopped... and when the fan stops that’s when all of the mosquitos come out...i was always thinking that hell was a cold cold place, but now i have come to the conclusion that its gotta be just like Argentina... super hot with lots of mosquitos and cockroaches...jajaja don’t you hate hearing people complain?
Well I’ll stop, right after i complain about one more thing, jaja we still dont have Water. Luckily the other elders in our area do, so we have been having to wake up early and go take cold showers, but no pasa nada! I’m hanging in there ;)
This past week was a fun one and it went flying by so fast. Me and my companion have lots of fun together, when we get stuck in a crappy situation we always find some way to laugh it off, like one we almost got robbed last night for example, haha we like to make fun of everything, like this week we were laughing about the fact that Argentina literally does not have any policemen right now. All of them went on strike, and so all chaos has broken out (don’t worry, our president has sent out the rule that we all have to be in the pench before it gets dark). Lots of shops have been robbed - there was a place right in front of our pench that got robbed just last night. But what has come to my mind about all of this has just helped me to realize that we really are in the last days. So many signs or prophecies that prophets made thousands of years ago are starting to come to past. In fact so many of the signs are happening that people cannot deny them.
I’m so grateful that we have the gospel in our lives and that we are preparing ourselves for that great day when our lord and savior will come in glory. It’s obvious, to me that the world is getting darker, standards that use to be normal, don’t even exist. The world is moving farther and farther away from our father in heaven. But just because the world is changing so rapidly doesn´t mean that we have to, We have hope, because we have faith and believe in the lord Jesus Christ. I hope that in this Christmas season that we will ponder a little about our lord and savior Jesus Christ. He came into this world like all of us being born of Mary, but also of his Heavenly Father. At the very tender age of 12, the scriptures teach us that he already had a knowledge of who he was, people would gather around this little boy in the temple and were amazed at how he knew answers to all of their questions, and how he taught with power and authority. At age 33 he began his ministry teaching us the way to follow our father in heaven. At the end of his ministry he paid for your sins and my sins, by bleeding from every pour. As he hung on the cross, he hung there with love and cried for the father to forgive them, when his work was finished on earth, he did not rest, but went to the spirit world to teach those who had died without a knowledge of him. He taught that who might believe on him may be saved...As he conquered the bands of death, taking up his resurrected body, and appearing to many, he gave to the world hope. As the resurrected lord gave the mandate to his disciples to go and preach the gospel and descended back into the heavens, the world was changed, and would forever be changed.
It is my hope and prayer that all of us can remember the story and the teachings of our savior and redeemer in this Christmas season. It is my testimony that he lives. I love that i can be his special witness, and his disciple and teach all that will listen, of what he expects of us. I’m so grateful to be a missionary because of my time here, i have received answers to my prayers and have learned for myself that my savior lives. I know that if we trust in him, and if we are obedient to his commandments we will be blessed. This week i have had so many opportunities to testify to people about his divinity, and i hope that we can always remember each day of our lives what He did for us.
Well as for investigators, were working a lot with an investigator named Silvia, she came to church last week and is progressing really well, if everything goes smoothly she should be good to go for the super baptism we’re planning on the 28th!
Well i gotta run, i love you all and I’m so happy to have awesome family. Your all in my prayers, and thanks for always keeping me in yours.
I love you all, and have an awesome, cold week!!!!!
haha Elder Holman
