This week has been great! I've been at mostly meetings all week. As a Zone Leader, we do this thing called Zone Leader Council, where we come together and receive specific training for us, talk about things going on in the mission, make plans to improve the mission, give updates on our zone and so forth. That was on Tuesday, pretty effective and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it.
Anyway. Wednesday through Friday we had Leadership training, that’s when all Zone Leaders, District Leaders and Trainers come together to receive training on how to be more effective missionaries, and pass that knowledge on to others. Elder Poulsen and I were asked to give a training on teaching about Revelation through Church attendance and how to teach our investigators the importance of it. It went really well, we got a lot of feed back from missionaries and president and sister Jergensen. It was a pretty fun couple of days... we had a lot of missionaries with us and so in the evenings when we went out to work we had a lot of fun!
Elder Jennings took off! he's back in Utah now... Kind of weird to see someone in your "generation" of the mission go home... it was a rather frightening thought... missions go by a little to quick for comfort. There’s still so much I want to do as a missionary... elder Poulsen and I are gonna work extremely hard to be consecrated missionaries and do our very best! We started a 40-fast this morning... I believe I've explained this before, but you take things that "poke" at the spirit and fast from them for 40 days in order to more fully have the spirit with you. We need to be good examples to our zone and uplift them, so we figured this'd be a good idea :)
We are also teaching a girl named Y. She's way sweet. We've been talking a lot about baptism with her.. she's gaining a strong testimony and wants to be baptized, but she wants to wait til her husband comes back from Mexico... She told us that she had a conversation with him the other day and he asked her if she was gonna be a Mormon, and she told him that both of them were gonna be Mormons haha! She’s way cool, and way funny. We love teaching her. Pray for her.
So guess what... this is way cool. Elder Poulsen and I have been talking a lot about Todd and Sandy. One of the sisters who just came to Des Moines from Hampton says that they are still working with them. She told us that Todd has read the whole Book of Mormon and Pearl of great price and LOVES it! but he still isn't coming to church! Who knows why.. anyway.. we were talking with president and he and sister Jergensen know Tom and Sandy because sister J. went on exchanges with the sisters there and had a lesson with them... well, we were talking with president, and we got him to give us permission to go up to Hampton one day this transfer, and teach them a lesson! We are so pumped! Specifically because we've received all this new training, and we feel like we're at a point in our mission where we are breaking down walls as teaching. We are gonna pray and fast that we can discover their needs, teach them what they need to hear, inspire them to act, and help them progress towards baptism! we are so pumped! Pray for us when the time comes... it'll probably be sometime after Christmas :)
So elder poulsen and me are just having the time of our lives! I love serving with him. He's like a brother to me. We think the same things, we react the same way to every situation... its just so nice to be with someone who is always on the same page as you! It makes the work so much more enjoyable! We are having a blast together! We have a way nice car and nice apartment. We get to see president a lot here in des Moines which is way fun :) Things are just as good as ever and we are just enjoying every second!
