Isabel's experience - September 9th

Hey HOLMAN CREW!!!

Whats hap-a-lap-a-nin!!! Hows the team doing? Its pretty cool to here that mom and dad have been traveling! I think its super awesome that you guys got to go hit up Italy, Greece Turkey...the works, you guys just needed to head on up to Syria, i here some pretty exciting things are going on down there!! You could of brought back a chemical bomb as a souvenir!!! (hahah that’s all the talk in Argentina right now)

How was being mom and dad star and chance? Hope is was fun chillin’ with all the hoodlums!! haha thanks for your letter star! I’m glad to here that you’re not ready to have a bunch of kids ;) Jaden i think its super cool that your learning how to play soccer! You should keep at it so that when you get your mission call to Argentina you can show up all the Latin’s!!! haha soccer here is huge!! That’s all people talk about, dream about and play! if you ever wanna get into somebody’s house and teach them, and they dont want you to come in, all you have to do is tell them you can pray for there favorite soccer team for them! haha ok, that only works sometimes! but keep with it jaden!!

Well this week for me, was...well really a roller coaster! I feel like the mission is just like that! At 10:00 in the morning you can be skipping on clouds you’re so happy for your investigators and then at 12:00 you’re swimming in the sanja (argentine gutter) because your investigators don’t wanna here from you anymore! haha I’ve learned to just come to terms with it! I hate to see people use there agency to choose to not following Christ...it makes me super sad, and i can only imagine how hard it is for God to watch us make bad decisions here on earth. But because i understand this, it makes my calling as a missionary so much more important. The world’s values are changing each and every day, but we can find comfort to know that Gods commandments are firm, and are unchanging. And i know that when we follow Christ and keep his commandments, the lord sends blessing from heaven...This Past week i got to see this happen muchísimo!

Me and my companion received this past week a reference from a member. the Hermana told us that she wanted us to go and talk to her mother...her name was Isabel, and she was super firm in her beliefs, but that didn´t scare me....When we got to the door, it opened just a crack...i explained to Isabel that her daughter had sent us, and that we were representatives of Jesus Christ, and that we had a message of peace and of good will, that was centered in Jesus Christ. After much convincing on my part, the door opened up, and she told me that i had 15 minutes to share our message and that was it...as i walked into her house i saw a sign that said "THINGS WE DONT TALK ABOUT IN MY HOUSE: POLITICS, FUTBOL (soccer) AND RELIGION" haha!
Before i even began my message she explained to me that she was very involved in the ministry at her church. She belongs to the universal church, and that what ever we told her would not change her mind about her thoughts and beliefs...i quickly advised her that our purpose as missionaries was not to destroy her faith nor to take her belief away about her religion, but only to strengthen her faith in Jesus Christ. As the lesson began, i instantly realized that me and my companion were not alone, but that the spirit was present, and what was incredible is he did all of the teaching. We explained to her that she was a daughter of god and that, because God loved her, he sent his only begotten son Jesus Christ to the earth to pay for her sins and the sins of the world. We taught her of the importance of profits, to help her understand that they help us follow Christ. After we explained how Christ formed his church on the earth and how people rejected him, and his teachings, the lesson took a huge turn, we had definitely used up our 15 minutes, and she wanted to hear more. We began to explain to her about a 14-year-old boy named Joseph smith...

I began to explain how this young boy was confused as to which of the churches was the church of Christ...as i explained that he went into a grove of trees and heard the voice of god and saw both our eternal father and his son Jesus Christ, i could not hold the tears back...the spirit bore testimony to me like never before the divinity of that boy, and his holy first vision...and it not only bore testimony to me, but Isabel as well. She was in tears as she listened...This sweet dear hermana said to me, Boy i have gone to sermons after sermon for more then 75 years. i have heard preacher after preacher, and i have never heard somebody testify to me with such powerful words. She went into her other room and came back with a Book of Mormon in her hand. She told me that 3 years ago her son had dropped off this book and invited her to read it, and she told us in this moment that she would read it, and pray to know if joseph smith was a profit. As we stood there we could all feel the spirit so strong....and yes we were standing there cuz she didn’t invite us to sit down or anything, in the beginning she let us one foot into her house, slammed the door and said "lets here your message"...haha and in the end of the lesson she accepted an invitation to be baptized. It was such a killer experience! It just goes to show, that god can open peoples hearts up to here our message!!

hahaha i wanted to tell you guys about some other experiences that i had this week, but i really don’t have a whole lot of time....something super crazy that happened to me is i got to go biking in water up to my knees!! haha this past Saturday, it was just pouring rain, haha I’ve never seen anything like it! Me and my comp grabbed our rain coats and headed out! haha within seconds we were sopping wet! The water went right through my raincoat and right through my shirt! haha it was super crazy! as we entered the street the water was up to my waist, and when i hopped on my bike and was biking it was up to my knees!!! it was super crazy!!! haha when we got to our investigators house they said you guys are crazy to leave in this storm, and we told them that we were willing to bike through poopy dirt streets, with water up to our knees to share the gospel. And i truly do feel that way. I made myself a promise that day, that no matter what the conditions are, no matter where im at, i will be a missionary, and i will share this message of truth with all that are around me!

Well i love you guys! Remember to share the gospel with all those around you, their lives and your lives will forever be blessed! I want you all to know that I know that this is Christ’s true church that joseph smith was and is a prophet and that Thomas s Monson is a profit of god. I love being a missionary and my life has, and will forever be effected because of the decision that i made to be a missionary!

I’m glad that all is good in the Holman home! Keep me up to date on all that’s going on!! Love you guys!!! and Miss ya Much!!!

Con mucho amor por todos los colorados,
Elder Holman ;)
