hahah could any of you understand? It sounds like you all had a good week!! I’m pumped that your all back in school! Time is just flying by isn’t it? Sky thanks for your awesome letter and the sick picks! Mom thanks for your spiritually filled letter...David Hamblin is such an awesome guy! his patriarchal blessing that he gave me is awesome! I read it all the time...well actually the blessing that the lord gave him to give to me is awesome...that’s better!!
Well this was another super amazing week here in Argentina! Particularly here in chascomus! This last week we had transfers and i was super sad because the Zone leaders had told me that i was probably out this one, but i was so pumped when they called me and told me that i had one more...in fact i jumped up i was so happy...they called me when i was in the church helping our branch president...and when i jumped up with joy saying that i have uno mas, he jumped up with joy with me! haha he´s such an awesome guy! He is the only guy in the branch right now that has priesthood (well there are a bunch that have priesthood they just aren’t worthy to use it) Right now I’m assigned as his secretary, elders quorum president...and counselor!! haha so me and president work really close together...yesterday we were in the church together since 1:30- 8:00 working together doing tithing, fast offerings, bills and scheduling interviews...i think he gets the award for my favorite member in all of Argentina! He’s such a stud!
So with the exciting news that I’m not going anywhere, i can continue to find teach and baptize here in chascomus! Speaking of finding and teaching...and soon to be baptized...we found an investigator that’s incredible! Her name is Raquel. She is about 40 years old, has two daughters and one son, and has been going to an evangelist church for her whole life, and just recently she began to get doubts about her church...she new a member of the branch and began to ask her about The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, one thing led to the other and the missionaries (us) found our way inside her house! When we taught her the spirit was so strong. I could not even hold the tears back as we shared with her that Jose Smith is a prophet of god, called to restore the church of Christ on the earth. As we shared about the Book of Mormon and how she can know our message is true through that book, she promised us she would read it. Both her along with her daughter accepted a date to be baptized as well!...
When my comp, president and i returned to her house, she told us that she couldn´t put the book down...she said that she read 11 chapters in 3rd Nephi...she was so excited to tell us that when she was reading she felt so good, almost if something or someone was telling her it was true...She also explained to me that she had dreamed about her mother in between our visits, and that had not happened in over 10 years...her mother died many years ago...she explained to us that her mother was dressed in ragged clothes, and explained to her that she needed her help with something...but she didn´t know what...
Earlier that morning we had planed to share with her the plan of salvation...as we began to teach her, she paused me as i was explaining about the atonement...she said,"i can feel it again" she said when you teach and testify about Christ I can feel something in me saying "its true." We testified to her as Nephi of old who stated: 6 Wherefore, redemption cometh in and through the bHolyc Messiah; for he is full of dgrace and truth.
7 Behold, he offereth himself a asacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law, unto all those who have a broken heart and a contrite spirit; and unto bnone else can the cends of the law be answered. 8 Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, asave it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who blayeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the cresurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise....
We explained to her that Christ had paid for her sins, and that it was only through him that we could be saved...I could truly see her countenance change as we explained this, she full heartedly accepted Christ as her savior in this moment.... As the lesson progressed, i felt impressed to make her a specific promise...She had mentioned earlier about the death of her mother, and how she had jus recently dreamed of her...I promised her that her mother was in the sprit world waiting for her daughter to do a work for her...i began to explain about temples and how we can be baptized for those that have moved on from this life without this saving ordinance. She was almost speechless as i promised her that her mother was waiting for her to preform this sacred ordinance for her, and that she can be baptized in her behalf. The spirit was so strong in that room. President bore a powerful testimony of temples and what we do there. In that moment i felt so calm, so happy to have a knowledge of this gospel, and that God would trust me enough to bring this message to Raquel.
I love being a missionary. I have never experienced Joy like this ever before in my life...i can only imagine how i will feel in this life to come with those precious souls that i have helped come unto Christ. In doctrina y convenios 18 it explains just a little bit of the feelings that will fill our soul, it says:
10 Remember the aworth of bsouls is great in the sight of God; 11 For, behold, the Lord your aRedeemer suffered bdeath in the flesh; wherefore he csuffered the dpain of all men, that all men might repent and ecome unto him. 12 And he hath arisen again from the dead, that he might bring all men unto him, on conditions of brepentance. 13 And how great is his ajoy in the bsoul that crepenteth! 14 Wherefore, you are called to acry repentance unto this people. 15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one asoul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!
16 And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the akingdom of my Father, how great will be your bjoy if you should bring many csouls unto me!
I can hardly comprehend the feelings that will come to my heart as i stand before the judgment bar of God and know that i have labored with all my heart might mind and strength and because of that, i have helped my dear brothers come unto our redeemer, and savior, Christ the Lord. What joy will fill our hearts that day, as we enter Gods kingdom with our brethren? Share and preach the Gospel. In all times and in all places. You will experience joy beyond comprehension....
Well i gotta run like always! I love you guys like crazy! Have a great week in school, work, and all the other things you guys do! Look and pray for opportunities to share the gospel and the lord will help you to do it!
con mucho mucho amor
The Land man...
Elder Holman
